Students at the University of Bern have successfully finished the seminar “Towards sustainable cocoa: assessing governance strategies and their theories of change”. The seminar was organised by the Centre for Development and Environment (CDE) and the SWISSCO Coordination Office.
An alliance of Swiss and Colombian companies, coordinated by Swisscontact and supported by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO, launched a Sustainable Landscape project with an initial focus on cocoa sourcing regions in Antioquia. The project helps to foster cocoa as an alternative source of income and promoter of climate-friendly growth in regions historically affected by the internal conflict in Colombia.
Mars Switzerland is strengthening its local commitment to responsible cocoa sourcing by becoming a member of the Swiss Platform for Sustainable Cocoa (SWISSCO).
From January 20-29, SWISSCO was present at the agricultural fair “International Green Week” in Berlin. Together with CHOCOSUISSE, we informed visitors about the efforts of Swiss companies to increase sustainability in the cocoa value chain.
Good Chocolate Hub promotes the sustainable consumption of chocolate by providing information, offering enjoyment and taste experiences, connecting people and advocacy. Good Chocolate Hub is also the organiser of the "Schoggifestival ehrundredlich", which will take place in Zurich on 26 March 2023.
The Baseline Report informs on where our members stand, what drives them and where the membership will need to strengthen their efforts to achieve the targets of the SWISSCO Roadmap 2030. The Interim Report in 2025 will provide an evaluation on progress and setbacks and serve as a basis to define strategic decisions until 2030.
The cocoa research community came together for the International Symposium on Cocoa Research, held December 5-7 in Montpellier. The symposium, attended by around 500 representatives of the global research community, practitioners and sector representatives, provided the latest insights on key challenges and issues facing the cocoa sector, and in particular on improving the livelihoods of cocoa farmers.
SWISSCO’s website has been redesigned and extended to become a true go-to-place to learn more about sustainability in cocoa. It now contains detailed information on the six thematic key areas and on the projects that aim at improving farmers livelihoods.
The Colombian-Swiss family business works shoulder-to-shoulder with associations, indigenous communities and small cocoa producers throughout Colombia and is specialised in marketing fine Colombian cocoa.
