SWISSCO was present at the International Green Week in Berlin

From January 20-29, SWISSCO was present at the agricultural fair “International Green Week” in Berlin. Together with CHOCOSUISSE, we informed visitors about the efforts of Swiss companies to increase sustainability in the cocoa value chain.

The International Green Week Berlin took place from January 20-29. Together with CHOCOSUISSE, we had a booth at the Swiss pavilion, next to stalls with cheese and chocolate products.

On our 3 meters (!) high wall poster, we informed about the biggest challenges in the cocoa production – poverty, child labour and deforestation – and highlighted three projects of our members co-financed by SECO. The highlighted projects were the following:

– The Sanfoka project that promotes agroforestry practices to tackle deforestation.

– The Salama Mateza project that promotes health care to tackle poverty.

– And the Cavally Landscape Project that promotes so-called landscape approaches and works together with stakeholders from both the cocoa and rubber sector.

In total, the International Green Week was a great success. The fair and especially the Swiss pavilion were very well attended; more than 10’000 people won a small bar of chocolate at our wheel of fortune. We were therefore very happy to be part of this event and to raise public awareness about the origin of cocoa and about Swiss chocolate.
